Built between 1970 and 1974, the RS2600 was Ford of Germanys top version of the Capri. It had a 2.6 litre V6 giving 150bhp with rear wheel drive. Performance was great with a top speed of over 120mph and a 0-60 time of 8.2 seconds. Capris were built in both Britain and Germany, but the RS2600 was only built in Germany. Most had disc brakes too.
Racing versions enjoyed great success in European touring car racing in the early 70s, and their success prompted BMW to introduce the "Batmobile" CSL racer to combat it.
Period early 1970s touches include a great orange paintjob with matt black bonnet, twin front headlights and cast alloy wheels. It also has minimalistic quarter chromed bumpers in place of the full width units seen on regular versions of the Capri, such as the GT1700.
Minichamps have done a good job on this model, with good quality paint, a detailed engine bay and interior, and an overall "quality feel". The only surprising omission is the lack of an opening boot, which is a slight disappointment.
