This orange and black beauty was a Japanese market only special, intended to homologate the rally versions of the 240Z (which was known as the Fairlady Z in its home market). It has the same high performing 2 litre 24 valve straight six that the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R, and also in common with that car has black steel wheels with no decorative hubcaps.
It differs from the US/European Datsun 240Z in having the 2 litre Skyline engine (as opposed to a 12 valve 2.4 litre straight six), and it has twin exhausts, which are stacked vertically so as to fit out from under the rear valance which is designed for a single exhaust outlet. It also has competition seats and a spare tire mounted in the luggage area. The paintjob is pure early 1970s with orange bodywork and a matt black bonnet. Another popular Japanese touch is the wing mounted rear view mirrors in black plastic. It also has a small rear "ducktail" spoiler on the tailgate. Underneath the engine, there is a substantial sump guard which was intended to prevent the engine fracturing the oil sump when the car bottomed out on rough roads (a common rally car modification).
Kyosho have done a very nice job on this model, and as I like orange cars (in model form anyway!) I think it is one of the best looking cars in my collection. Unlike the similar 240Z by Kyosho, it has a very nice front grill that looks real and doesn't deform when the bonnet if opened. The front doors open on hidden hinges and look very good indeed. The only big fault I've found with this model is the almost total lack of brake detail (admittedly the brakes are hidden on this car due to the steel wheel design, but I expect a good level of brake detail on all quality models, especially Kyoshos!). Overall a great model, but it gets 7/10 (a low mark for a Kyosho due to the lack of brake detail).
