The C-Type Jaguar (or more correctly know as the XK-120C) was a development of the Jaguar XK-120 road car, which itself was one of the fastest cars money could buy at the end of the 1940's. The "C" in it's designation stood for "Competition". What Jaguar did was add a new lightweight and more streamlined body to the XK-120's chassis and uprated the then new XK 6-cylinder engine for sports car racing. The car was very successful, it's career highlights being Jaguar's first 2 (out of a total of 7) outright LeMans wins, in 1951 and 1953.
This car represents a 1951 C-Type. No two C-Types were identical. This car only has a drivers door, which was normal for some but not all C-Type's. The engine detail is superb on this model, and is an accurate representation of the XK series straight six engine. Derivatives of this engine were used in all Jaguar six cylinder cars right up to the mid-nineties, when the XJ range of saloons were given an all new range of V8's.
Other nice details on this model include an opening spare wheel compartment and small "leather" (actually rubber!) straps which hold the bonnet shut. It is beautifully finished with a very high quality paint job and is very accurate overall. It is very deserving of 9/10 marks and is a good example of the type of quality being produced by AUTOart.
